Ireland’s FIATA Diploma Revalidated with FIATA

Irish International Freight Association attended the 2025 FIATA World Congress in Hanoi, Vietnam across 6th – 10th October 2025 to receive their certificate of revalidation from FIATA’s Logistics Institute

The FIATA Diploma is an internationally recognised qualification, delivered through FIATA National Associations across the globe, all under the oversight of FIATA in Geneva, Switzerland. To ensure that delivered material is timely and up to date, training material is revalidated by the FIATA Logistics Institute (FLI), a body comprising experts from across FIATA’s global network, which defines and ensures the implementation of high-quality training standards within the industry through the regular update of the FIATA Minimum Standards. The FLI ensures that the Minimum Standards are maintained and updated, based on the latest developments on training and education in the industry.

Content for Ireland’s version of the FIATA Diploma course is continuously updated within the IIFA Secretariat and every 4 years, Ireland’s material is submitted to the FLI for a rigorous review and cross-examination.

IIFA are somewhat unique among the FIATA Associations offering a FIATA Diploma programme, with their online delivery option. Delivery of FIATA Diploma courses across the globe reflects the diversity of FIATA’s members, with some delivering through partner universities, others with monthly networking meetups and some in classrooms. Within Ireland, IIFA utilise a hybrid of structured on-demand learning, with clear goalposts across a ten-month period. This delivery method has been refined across many years of engagement with Participants, adapting to the continuously evolving identity of Irish Freight Forwarding.

Ireland submitted its latest material to FIATA in March of this year. Following an interview process with the FLI panel in May, Ireland’s course programme and delivery was revalidated once again. This is Ireland’s 4th revalidation with FIATA, following initial course approval in 2008 and successful revalidations in 2013, 2017 and 2021.

Seamus Kavanagh, Executive Officer of IIFA, attended the 2025 FIATA World Congress in Hanoi, Vietnam where he accepted Ireland’s revalidation certificate as part of the closing ceremony of the 2025 Congress. The certificate was presented to Ireland by FIATA President Turgut Erkeskin, President of FIATA, UTIKAD, Turkish Forwarding and Logistics Association and Stephen McDermot, Chair of the FIATA Logistics Institute, Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association.

“Within IIFA, we hold this revalidation with FIATA in high esteem. We are currently delivering our 18th FIATA Diploma class group, with over 400 Graduates through IIFA since 2008. We take great pride in delivering a course programme that continuously adapts and evolves to meet the training needs of the Irish Freight Forwarding industry. To have our material approved by the FIATA Logistics Institute, to know that our material was assessed by a global panel of Freight Forwarding experts, continues to motivate us to deliver a best-in-class programme for our members and the Irish Freight Forwarding industry.”

The 2025 – 2026 IIFA FIATA Diploma course commenced on Wednesday 27th August 2025, to a class group of 35. This current cohort features 3x international Participants, who FIATA have approved for international participation from Ireland. The 2026 – 2027 IIFA FIATA Diploma course will open for registration in the Spring of 2026.
