Vincent Brennan presented with Honorary Fellowship of Irish International Freight Association

At the 2025 IIFA Annual General Meeting, Irish International Freight Association had the honour of inducting Vincent Brennan as an Honorary Fellow of the Association; a category of IIFA membership which recognises the contribution of individuals to this Association or the Irish Freight Forwarding and Customs Brokerage Industry.

Vincent Brennan is an Irish Freight Forwarder of 40 years experience, having started his career in the shipping industry in the early 1980s with Container Agencies and Shipping Ltd. Vincent progressed to Phoenix International Ltd at the dawn of the Millennium, which later became C.H. Robinson in 2012, where Vincent remained until his retirement from Freight Forwarding operations in 2019.

Throughout his time in the industry, Vincent played an active support role with the Association, as a Member of IIFA Council for many years and later President between 2009 – 2010. With a keen interest in Education, Vincent devoted much time to aiding IIFA’s various education initiatives across many years;

  • working with past IIFA CEO Colm Walsh with setting up the FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding course direct from IIFA. When launched in 2008, Vincent aided delivery across those early years, when classes were held monthly and in-person
  • joining IIFA’s Team to deliver the National Clear Customs training initiative across late 2019 into early 2020, continuing then as Trainer of practical Customs Clearance training online across Lockdown
  • as a course creator and Lecturer for IIFA’s Introduction to Freight Forwarding course, delivered in association with Pearse College Dublin

Vincent’s work with the Introduction to Freight Forwarding course has been of great benefit to the Irish Freight Forwarding industry. BREXIT saw the arrival of many new entrants into the Irish Freight Forwarding and Customs Brokerage industry; persons trained up in Customs Clearance procedures and while proficient in their role, lacking a wider understanding of the operations of the industry. This Introduction to Freight Forwarding was perfectly timed to meet an industry need, a need unforeseen amid the BREXIT chaos.

The first Introduction to Freight Forwarding course took place across February – April 2022, to a class of 17 Participants. As of this week, 166 persons have received training across 7 separate class groups. 46 different IIFA Member companies have sent Colleagues for training as part of this initiative, with 12x members enrolling multiple staff across different sittings of this course.

Feedback from Participants is always strong, with a recent Graduate expressing their appreciation of Vincent’s delivery by saying that they found the course to be incredibly enriching, filled with valuable insights and learnings that has expanded their understanding of the industry.
