CBAM Enters Into Force: First Operational Figures Published

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) entered into force on 1 January 2026. According to the European Commission, the launch was supported by coordinated deployment across all EU Member States, with the CBAM Registry integrated into national customs import systems, TARIC and the EU Customs Single Window. This integration enables real-time data exchange, automated validation of authorised CBAM declarants and continuity of import procedures at the EUâ€™s external borders.

European Commission Updates ICS2 Stop-Words - Action Required for Accurate ENS Submissions

The European Commission has updated the list of â€œStop Wordsâ€. These terms are deemed to indicate insufficient data quality during the Entry Summary Declarations (ENS) and may lead to automatic filing rejections under Import Control System 2 (ICS2), with potential consequences for supply chain reliability and regulatory compliance. The update forms part of the ongoing implementation of ICS2 and can be downloaded from the CIRCABC platform.

Council and Parliament strike deal on rules for vehicle circularity and management of end-of-life vehicles
