Commission imposes provisional countervailing duties on imports of battery electric vehicles from China while discussions with China continue

On July 4th, nine months after the initiation of an ex officio anti-subsidy investigation, the European Commission has imposed provisional countervailing duties on imports of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) from China. Based on the investigation, the Commission has concluded that the BEV value chain in China benefits from unfair subsidisation, which is causing a threat of economic injury to EU BEV producers. The investigation has also examined the likely consequences and impact of these measure

Transfennica broadens European reach with CLdN network connection

Transfennica and CLdN are pleased to announce a connection of their shipping services in Zeebrugge to provide customers with broader connections through Northern and Western Europe. Transfennica’s Northern Baltic service between Antwerp and the ports of Hanko, Kotka, Rauma (Finland) and Paldiski (Estonia) will call at CLdN’s Albert II terminal in Zeebrugge every other Thursday enabling the exchange of northbound and southbound cargo. Council Position on Railway Infrastructure Capacity Regulation Will Not Improve Rail Freight Services

Yesterday (18 June), the Council of the European Union adopted a General Approach on the Commission Proposal for a Regulation on Railway Infrastructure Capacity (COM (2023) 443). The proposal is intended to optimise railway capacity, improve cross-border coordination, increase punctuality and reliability, and ultimately attract more freight to rail. The general approach adopted does not go far enough in meeting these objectives.
